Your day’s assignment is on the functioning of an electrical panel. Whenever you want to do any electrical repair, your first task will be to switch off power coming to the circuit of the part of repair, of which you will do at the electric panel. Load center is another name you can use to refer to the main electrical service panel.
One of the functions of the load center is to act as a power distribution center, to all other centers which are connected to various destinations in the house. The main load center can be supplemented with an additional electrical panel, which can be of a smaller capacity, just to enhance the capacity of the main one. Inside the electrical service panel, are circuit breakers which will allow you to stop any current flow to the parts you want to work on.
Circuit breakers are many, but there is one big one called the double -pole service connect. As you open the door of the panel, what you will see first are the main circuit breaker owing to its size and conspicuous positioning, which is normally at the top, and sometimes at the bottom or the sides. Its function is to control power going to various branches branch circuit breakers.
Entering into the main circuit breaker, are two black service wires, which are known as hot bus bars. As they enter they are snapped into position by the main circuit breaker so that as provide power to the circuits. Again, there are other two wires which come out of the main circuit proceeding to the various destinations.
Upon leaving the hot wires, the electric current will work through various electric appliances such as light bulbs and outlets. The current will then return to the main circuit breaker through white neutral wires, which proceed to link with big wires, which are also neutral. Further, the two neutral bus bars will extend the connection to the electrical service, thus completing the circuit.
The next component is composed of a main bonding jumper whereby the neutral bus bar going to the ground are connected with the main electrical service pane. Just adjacent to the connection is another one which involves a copper wire which links the neutral wire to the rod driven to the earth and it is the last connection which allow safe passage of stray currents.
Additionally, instead of having the last connection between the neutral wire and the rod in the ground, a separate one can be set up depending on necessity. The separate connection involves, electrically linking the ground wire with the neutral wire.
